Pleasurable wine, Château Puyfromage is fruity, round, without astringency or bitterness, with developed aromas and soft tannins.
Owner : SCE Château PUYFROMAGE (MARQUE’s Family).
Appellation : Bordeaux Côtes de Francs: one of the smallest and most easterly appellations of Bordeaux. The Appellation is located in the continuity of the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion. It produces wines, rich in colour which are characterized by a remarkable harmony and finesse of tannins.
Location : On hillsides which allows optimal sunlight exposure.
Area : 45 hectares
Soil : Limestone and clay-limestone
Density : 5 000 vines / hectare
Average age of vines : 35 years.
Average yield : 45 hl / hectare
Grape varieties : 60 % Merlot, 25 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 15 % Cabernet Franc.
Vinification : Traditional with long vatting. Fermentation temperature under constant thermal control. Pumping-over twice daily with controlled aeration.
Maturing : In stainless and concrete tanks. Attentive care for 18 months. Bottling in our cellars.
Tasting Notes – vintage 2005 :"Well-structured, with a beautiful richness, well balanced, with a bouquet of wild strawberries and humus, a mouth robust and supple at the same time.”.
The food and wine matches : In accompaniment with deli meat, barbecue and white meats. Excellent with all kinds of cheeses. And for a better appreciation we recommend that you open the bottle half an hour before serving.
