The history of Count Saladini Pilastri dates back to the year 1000; a noble family from Ascoli Piceno that boasts of a rich and fascinating past whose ancestors were priests and leaders. The deep antique roots of the family are a heredity for the present; it is a heredity of long lives of tradition over the centuries of history. The vineyard activity has always coincided with the value and culture of the land from which it belongs.

Saladini Pilastri Villa is found two kilometres from Spinetoli, a sweet medieval town whose origins date back to the 5th century B.C.; its name derives from a hill called "Spineola" because it was covered with rose thorns

The limestone hills of Spinetoli and the rolling and sunny hills of Monte Prandone and Porto d'Ascoli, where the actual 320 hectares of Saladini Pilastri's winery extend creates wines of a very high quality standard.

The carachteristics of this wine are its typical deep ruby colour, vinous bouquet and dry harmonic taste. It is produced from only the best Sangiovese and Montepulciano grapes, and mellowed in oak barrels. It is a wine which is at its best served at room temperature to accompany all kinds of roast meat and game.

Tasting Notes: Very intense ruby colour with slight grainy tones. Rich and persistent nose with a sophisticated, berry-scented bouquet revealing hints of almond extract, mint, and earth. Fresh and fruity palate that is well-structured with soft tannins, mellowed in French oak.
