Domaine de Durban 75cl Muscat de Beaume de Venise
Located on the hillsides of Beaumes-de-Venise, Domaine de Durban owes its reputation to its famous Muscat, a sweet, aperitif wine grown beneath the Dentelles of Montmirail and sheltered from the Mistral. The Domaine is surrounded by a pine forest and offers a panoramic view of the Durban vineyard
All year round, the Leydier family takes great care to maintain and prepare the vines to produce a rich, plentiful harvest of the highest quality wines. At Domaine de Durban, the grapes are gathered by hand to avoid harming them and sorted at the vine in order to eliminate those that are not ripe enough or that have been damaged.
This Muscat from the Southern Rhone shows a clear straw color in the glass. Fresh and delicious scents focus on pears and grapefruit with a touch of spice and honeyed sweetness, almost reminiscent of opening a can of fruit cocktail. The flavor is not as "sticky" as the nose suggests; it's very sweet, but medium body and almost steely acidity provide balance and texture, with a pleasant bitter-almond quality adding complexity in the finish.
