Grape Variety : 100% Tempranillo

Harvest : The vineyards developed well during all the development stages for this harvest, creating a good, healthy crop. The weather was good up to the end of the harvest, with dry, sunny conditions bringing the grapes to their optimum point of ripeness, in an extremely healthy condition.

Winemaking : 100% Tempranillo, from selected plots. Alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 28ºC. Skin maceration for 21 days. Racked bright by gravity and the free run juice kept separate from the press wine. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 21ºC. Ageing in American and French oak barrels for 12 months. Light filtration. No tartrate stabilization, simply the natural stabilization which occurs during the barrel ageing process. Amicrobial filtration.

Tasting Note : Ripe garnet red. The initial nose stems from the effects of oak ageing, mainly vanilla and caramel. Following this there are the fine red fruit aromas typical of Tempranillo in Rioja Alavesa. The palate is soft, with balanced acidity. The typical Tempranillo liquorice flavours are immediately apparent, but quickly followed by fine fruit flavours and light balsamic notes. The tannins are fine and balanced, and the finish is elegantly oaky from judicious cask ageing.

Storage and Serving : Store in a cool place at a constant temperature – between 14 and 17ºC. Protected from light and vibrations. Serve at room temperature, between 15 and 18ºC.

Food matching : A wine to accompany any sort of food. Canapés, Serrano and Chorizo, cheese, grilled, casseroled or barbecued meats.
