Distillate brandy made from Bartlett pears
Pears from the local region (Markgräflerland, Breisgau, Kaiserstuhl), France (Ardèche, Drôme, Isère and Savoie) and Italy (Trentino and Lombardy). The most full-bodied fruits grow at altitudes of 300 – 800 m. To avoid any damage during transportation, they are harvested shortly before changing color from green to yellow or red. The fruit is generally mashed 3-4 days after it arrives. Conditions in the troughs of the Markgräflerland valleys are similarly favorable to those in Alpine valleys, meaning that an ever growing proportion of the fruit comes directly from local farmers.
